Recommendation to St. Michael the Archangel Protector of Souls

Glorious Archangel Michael, who didst fight with such courage against the army of the rebellious angels, hasten to the help of the dying. See with what fury the devil haunts their bed to devour them. See with what perfidy he strives to hold them fast in the bonds of sin, to harden them, and to cast them into hell. O Charitable protector of souls, hasten to help the dying. Excite in their hearts sentiments of lively faith and sincere penitence; give them fresh confidence; re-kindle the sacred fire of divine love; alleviate their sufferings; obtain for them resignation; defend them in their agony. Lastly, after having helped them to gain the victory, lead them to the dwelling of the elect. Amen.

-- Perpetual intercession to the Agonizing Heart of Jesus, by Father J. Lyonnard, S.J. 1871

Beads of the Agonizing

It is composed of Five Tens in honor of the Five Sacred Wounds of Jesus.

On the large beads of a Rosary:
Merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I pray Thee, by the agony of Thy most Sacred Heart, and by the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother, cleanse in Thy Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their agony and about this day to die. Amen

On the Small beads:
Heart of Jesus, agonizing, have pity on the dying.

At the End of each decade:
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
Concluding prayer:
O Jesus, hanging on the Cross for me, I offer Thee all I have ever suffered, all I now suffer, all Thou willest me to suffer before I reach Thy sacred feet. I offer each pain of body or mind in union with Thy sufferings on the Cross, and with the sorrows of Thy Immaculate Mother.

O Jesus, by Thine own most bitter agony, have mercy on the dying.
O Jesus, who didst commend Thy soul into the hand of Thy Father, give to those who are now dying the grace of a perfect confidence in Thy love and of abandonment to Thy will.
O Jesus, by Thy bitter passion! Give, I beseech Thee, the grace of contrition to the poor sinners who are to die this day.
O God of all mercy! Have mercy on those who are this day struck suddenly by death.
